This list supplements the glossary of terms for other card games. There are probably hundreds of common and uncommon poker slang terms. The list is not complete and is not a formal dictionary.
Some examples from the glossaryt:
- Back in: To enter a pot by checking and then calling someone else’s open on the first betting round.
- Bluff: A bluff is a bet or raise made with a hand which is not thought to be the best hand. To bluff is to make such a bet. The objective of a bluff is to induce a fold by at least one opponent who holds a better hand.
- Five of a kind: A hand possible only in games with wild cards, or a game with more than one deck, defeating all other hands, comprising five cards of equal rank.
